Trouble linking an Instagram account

Things you need to do & know to link your Instagram accounts

To post and schedule on Instagram from a third-party app like Rapidely, you must have either an Instagram Business or Creator account and this account has to be linked to a Facebook page, as required by Instagram.

Step 1: Do you have a private account?

You cannot connect a personal or private Instagram account.

If you're trying to connect a private account, it won't be permitted by Meta. Convert it to a Business or Creator account via your Instagram account settings.

Step 2: Check Business Facebook Settings to make sure all is in order

Instagram requires you to have your account linked to a Facebook page so as to post schedules from an external service like Rapidely. If you don't have a Facebook page yet, you'll need to create one first.

• Make sure your Instagram account is properly linked to a Facebook page and that you have all the necessary permissions.

  • Open Business Facebook > Pages

  • Choose the Facebook Page that manages the Instagram account from the list of pages

  • Click on Connected Assets

  • Make sure your Instagram account is properly connected.

• Ensure you have all the necessary rights to manage both the Facebook Page and the Instagram account.

  • Open the "People" section in Business Facebook .
  • Click on your user profile

  • Check that you have full rights to the Facebook Page and the Instagram Account you're trying to connect.

If either of these two conditions is missing, make the necessary adjustments, then go back and connect your Instagram account in rapidely.

• Check all permissions are granted in the Business Integrations section

  1. Open to the Permissions panel for your Facebook Business account (click here for direct link). If you can't see the connected tools, it's probably that you are not active with a.

1. In the list of connected tools, find Ayrshare and click on View and Edit.

2. ENABLE EVERY SINGLE ACCOUNT, PAGE AND GIVE ALL PERMISSIONS - EVEN IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO USE THEM WITH RAPIDELY OTHERWISE YOU'LL KEEP GETTING ERRORS.

1. Click on Save

2. Logout of your facebook account before going back to rapidely

Step 3: Checking the Instagram Account settings in Rapidely

1. Open Home > Settings > Social media accounts then click on Manage Connections

1. Click on Instagram -> Continue with Setup on the pop-up window that appears.

2. Do not click continue. Click on Edit Settings to access Facebook permissions.

1. Ensure ALL the Instagram accounts you want to connect are correctly selected.

2. Verify that ALL Facebook pages linked to your Instagram accounts are also accurately selected.

3. Turn ALL authorizations to YES

ENABLE EVERY SINGLE ACCOUNT, PAGE AND GIVE ALL PERMISSIONS - EVEN IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO USE THEM WITH RAPIDELY OTHERWISE YOU'LL KEEP GETTING ERRORS.

1. Then choose your Instagram account again and if there are no other issues, you should get a success message.

Step 4: Remove Ayrshare and reconnect

Wait 5 minutes and refresh the rapidely home page It can take a few mintues for systems to synch

If you're still getting an error message, we might need to reset the connection between rapidely and Meta.

1. Log into Facebook (NOT Business Facebook this time)

2. Open Settings > Business Integration (click here for direct link)
3. Remove the Ayrshare app

1. Go back into rapidely and unlink and relink the social media accounts.

If you still get an error message despite:

1. your instagram account is connected to a Facebook page

2. that all the accounts selected

3. all the permissions enabled

4. unlinking and relinking Ayrshare in the Facebook admin page
