Mentions can help you increase your reach, foster collaboration, and build a sense of community on your social networks.
Only mention users who have clearly indicated they want to be contacted. Repeatedly mentioning the same handle in a short period can lead to your account being restricted or suspended for abusive behavior (spam). Therefore, our system limits mentions to:
the same @mention only once every two days
a limit of 5 mentions per post (or 3 on Instagram)
These limits are based on extensive experience with social media APIs. These restrictions reflect both official guidelines and observed practices across different platforms. They're designed to ensure compliance with each social network's policies and avoid the risk of account suspension.
Recommendation:
We recommend not mentioning the same handle more than once a week.
Instead of an @mention, use a hashtag like #Name or include the person/company's name directly in your post text. Social networks have excellent search engines that will surface the content.
To mention another account, simply add the identifier as an @handle (with no spaces) to your caption.
